Rhythm
Three weeks into the course, I’m starting to find my rhythm, balancing the demands of both work and study.
One of the core modules, Introduction to Data Science, has introduced us to the basics of Python and R programming, along with a few essential packages that we’ll be using for data analysis.
Recently, we were given an exciting challenge: explore a dataset of our choice and present some of our findings—complete with plots. While some of my classmates dove into credit card spending patterns or health data like COVID-19 infection rates, I decided to take a different route. Curious about the local property market, I chose to investigate the HMRC House Price Data to see what insights draw out of Brighton’s housing trends.
With a bit of data merging, cleaning and preparation, I was able to pull together some interesting insights into house price growth rates, average prices, and which areas of the city are popular in terms of transaction rates. I’m looking forward to sharing them with the class… though not sure they will have the same interest in Brighton as I do 😂
